Who we are

Scientists studying maize diversity

We are a group of scientists who worked on an NSF-funded project called “Biology of Rare Alleles in Maize and its Wild Relatives”.

This project was an accomplishment-based renewal of the NSF-funded project “Genetic Architecture of Maize and Teosinte”. Scientifically, however, the project extended over more than a decade, and has pioneered the methods for genetic mapping, evolution, and population genetics, which are now applied to hundreds of species.

Project impact

The project has developed resources to study maize diversity including germplasm, data, and publications, and trained a generation of new scientists.
